The 6 best places to SUP near Ogden

Ogden, and its surrounding area, has proven to be a paddler's paradise.

From relaxing flatwater scenery to the adrenaline rush of a river SUP, here are our favorite places to cool off this summer on your stand-up paddleboard.

1. CAUSEY RESERVOIR

Just a short drive away, Causey Reservoir is an awesome place to enjoy chill flatwater and awesome views in a tucked-away setting. Life jackets are required and must be worn.

2. PINEVIEW RESERVOIR

One of the closest reservoirs to Ogden, Pineview is a gem of the Ogden Valley and a local favorite. Life jackets are required on board.

3. WILLARD BAY RESERVOIR

Located just off I-15, Willard Bay offers easy access for a day of paddling and beautiful mountain vistas. Life jackets are required on board.

4. THE GREAT SALT LAKE

Brave the briny smell of the Great Salt Lake and you'll be rewarded with stunning, unique views and glassy saltwater. Life jackets are required on board.

5. OGDEN KAYAK PARK (CLASS II-III)

This one's a locals secret: at the Ogden Kayak Park, you can surf on your SUP. When water flow is high, these holes are intimidating—whitewater experience is required. If you are looking to practice your skills, always remember to go with someone who is an experienced paddler. Wear a lifejacket and a proper river SUP leash.

6. WEBER RIVER HENEFER TO TAGGART'S SECTION (CLASS II-III)

When water levels are high, this is one of the most popular Weber River sections for tubing and paddling. This is not your standard lake SUP, so be sure to attempt it with a river-specific board, and go with an experienced whitewater paddler. Wear a lifejacket and a proper river SUP leash.
