Watching the Sunrise From America's Highest Peak
By Bryden Bowley | September 6, 2021
Last summer, my friend and I backpacked 50+ miles in the Sierra Nevada range. At the end of our trip, we summited Mount Whitney for sunrise.
At 14,505 feet, Mount Whitney is the highest mountain in the contiguous United States. To reach our goal, we had to wake up early (at 2 AM, to be exact). The gorgeous hike reminded me of a lesson that I already knew: the view from the peak is always worth it.
